Twitter is in trouble, Twitter stock is crashing, the platform is struggling to grow, zero users in the last quarter…blah blah blah…we all know the problems Twitter faces at the moment I’m getting bored talking about them.
Yeah you read the title right, Twitter didn’t grow at all during the last quarter. In typical Twitter fashion, shares began to slide before the earnings call and then completely tanked when it became clear just how bad things were over the last quarter.
Twitter verification. Once it was coveted and many of us craved the blue tick on our accounts. Why? Approval, validation, the feeling of being accepted into the group of the Twitter elite. I was verified on Twitter before the application process opened and several times in the past I have spoke about how I feel there is a lack of value to being verified now.
I have laid off Twitter for a couple of months, you know, give them a break from the constant bashing because thats what it feels like I am doing most of the time. I’m not going to start beating on them again (well not that much anyway) because Twitter will always have a special place for me.
I have been on the fence over the topic of Donald Trump and Twitter. I thought that he might be of use to the platform looking to grow. With the level of controversy around every tweet I had wondered if it would pull more users into the platform.
Last year, many of us were looking at the presidential race and Trump’s use of Twitter while wondering – maybe this is what Twitter needs right now?
Twitter has a rocky relationship with developers. It is no big secret, in fact we have touched on the issue several times in the past and have gone into detail about what went wrong with developers and how.
It is no big secret at this stage, people struggle with Twitter. I haven’t talked about Twitter all that much recently because I care a lot less for the service now than I did at one point.
I sat on writing this post for a number of days and it is going to be the last opinion piece I put up on Twitter for some time because I am tired of bashing a platform constantly for its failures. In fact I wasn’t going to write this piece at all but what happened on Twitter in Ireland last week leaves me with one more rant that needs to be said.
Jack Dorsey has asked user for suggestions with regard to what features the company should implement going forward into the new year. One feature was repeated over and over again, Twitter users want the ability to edit tweets.
